I mentor an amazing man named Herman, who is an Ugandan pastor, educator, businessman, and community leader. Herman has a great heart for Jesus and his native country.
Most of the time, our conversations are about church leadership and discipleship.
But the other day, Herman wanted to talk about nation-building.
He said, “We want to grow our church to be a catalyst for improving our nation.”
When I asked him to expound on that, he said, “Well, here are the questions we’re asking ourselves…
- How can we help young people to love their country?
- How can we contribute to changing our education system?
- How can we impact the governance of our country?
- How can we impact the media of our country?”
We then had a great discussion of how God did nation-building in and through Israel.
But I was blown away by how big Herman was thinking.
And it convicted me.
Listening to Herman, I realized that I do not think big enough.
Do you?
Why not?
What limits us from thinking bigger?
What could we accomplish by thinking bigger?
Now, maybe, nation-building is just too big for you to think, but I bet you can still find ways to think bigger.
So, let’s try it.
Thinking bigger, what would you like to accomplish professionally?
Thinking bigger, what personal goal would you like to pursue?
Thinking bigger, how could you make your relationships more vibrant?
Thinking bigger, where would you like to travel?
Thinking bigger, whose life could you impact for the better?
Thinking bigger, who could you mentor?
Thinking bigger, how could you use what you have to advance God’s Kingdom purposes?
Herman is thinking bigger.
I want to think bigger.
You can think bigger.
