Born (A Christmas Poem)

Born.

That word is filled with promise and possibility.

Born.

It announces the existence of something or someone new.

It proclaims, “I am here.”

Born.

It speaks of creation.

It gives a nod to the miraculous.

Born.

It’s an experience common to all living things.

Including Jesus, and…

Because Jesus was born,

I have a faithful and merciful High Priest before God (Hebrews 2:17).

Because Jesus was born,

he is able to help me when I am tested (Hebrews 2:18).

Because Jesus was born,

I no longer remain in the dark (John 12:46).

Because Jesus was born,

I can be rescued from this evil world in which we live (Galatians 1:4).

Because Jesus was born,

I have been blessed with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3).

Because Jesus was born,

I can be redeemed and my sins can be forgiven (Ephesians 1:7).

Because Jesus was born,

I can be reconciled to God (Colossians 1:22).

Because Jesus was born,

I can be born of God and win the battle against the world (1 John 5:4-5).

Born.

Jesus was born to save people from sin (Matthew 1:21).

Born.

Jesus was born to be “God with us” (Matthew 1:23).

Born.

Jesus was born to give me new birth and new life (Titus 3:4-5).

Born.

Jesus was born because he loves me (John 3:16).

Born.
