“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’).” – Matthew 1:22-23
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14
At the heart of biblical Christianity is the astonishing claim that God is with us.
That the God of creation cares enough about us to comfort us, heal us, and notice us.
Because God is with us…
There is light in the darkness.
There is hope in the heartache.
There is peace in the pain.
There is joy in the sadness.
There is meaning in the mundane.
There is fulfillment to be found in life.
There is redemption and deliverance and salvation from the curses of sin and death that have wrecked God’s beautiful creation.
In the words of Psalm 147, God heals the brokenhearted, sustains the humble; his understanding for us has no limit and he delights in those who put their hope in him.
He strengthens, blesses, and satisfies.
Praise the Lord,
for the Lord is with us!
