If you were to choose one word that communicates your goals and your focus for this new year, what would it be?
My one word for 2021 is…
Shine
We’ve experienced enough darkness in 2020, and I want to be a source of positivity in 2021 who is shining the light of Christ brightly to the people around me.
In Matthew 5:14, Jesus said that his disciples are “the light of the world.” And Paul, in Philippians 2:15, said that Christ-followers “shine like stars” among others.
To shine, I must commit my ways to the way of Christ and submit every facet of my life to his Lordship. So, to say I want to shine for Christ is not a statement I make lightly.
That one word – shine – calls me to a specific course of obedient action in which I put Christ first in all things.
Nevertheless, I want my life to “shine” for the cause of Christ.
