Recently, Jon Acuff told a story about having lunch with renowned speaker and author John Maxwell and pastor Louie Giglio. During lunch, Louie asked John this question: “What’s the first thought you had this morning when you woke up?”
John’s reply was immediate: “I can’t wait to add value to someone’s life today.”
He went on to add, “I wake up with anticipation. People ask how I’ve built a disciplined life, and I tell them I haven’t. I’ve built a life of anticipation. I wake up at 5 a.m. to write, study, and lead because I’m always anticipating that I’ll get to add value to someone’s life today.”
What a great approach to life!
If you want to start building the kind of anticipation with which Maxwell lives, start each day this week by asking yourself this question:
What value can I add to someone’s life today?
