On Monday I shared a thought from Jim Martin encouraging us to make progress toward a goal “today.”
That post reminded me of two verses of Scripture that mention “today.”
The first is Psalm 95:7-8 which says, “Today, if only you would hear his voice, “Do not harden your hearts…'”
The second is Hebrews 3, which actually quotes Psalm 95 and builds on it: “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” (vv. 12-13).
In those two passages, we are exhorted to seize the opportunity that “Today” brings us to…
- Keep our hearts open to God, rather than hardening them toward God.
- Encourage others in a way that keeps them from being hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
So, today…
How will you keep your heart open to God?
Who can you reach out to and encourage?
Do it, as long as it called “Today.”
Amen
