Glorifying God by “Seeing & Saying”

Last Sunday, Randy and I started a new sermon series based on 1-2 Peter. You can watch the first sermon in the series here.

One verse that we covered was 1 Peter 2:9, which says this…

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Here, the apostle Peter reminds us that core to our identity is “seeing and saying” – we say what we have seen about God.

About this, Wayne Grudem writes the following…

“God’s purpose in redeeming us is not simply our own enjoyment but that we might glorify him. Seeking our own eternal well-being – right though it is – could never provide a truly satisfying goal for life. The answer to our search for ultimate meaning lies in ‘declaring the excellencies’ of God, for he alone is infinitely worthy of glory. Redemption is ultimately not man-centered but God-centered.”

This is exactly why I am constantly encouraging Alameda members to live as disciple-makers; when we do, we glorify God and find the meaning in life we all seek.

For resources on living as a disciple-maker for Christ, go here.

Let’s live in our true identity!

Let’s say to others what we have seen in God!

Let’s make Jesus known!

Let’s make it happen!
