Five on Friday

Here are my 5 recommendations for this Friday…

Website

Plugged In is a great website for anyone who wishes to be discerning about their entertainment choices, especially parents of young children and teens.  The description of their website reads like this: “Plugged In exists to shine a light on the world of popular entertainment while giving you and your family the essential tools you need to understand, navigate, and impact the culture in which we live.  Through reviews, articles, and discussions, we want to spark intellectual thought, spiritual growth and a desire to follow the command of Colossians 2:8: ‘See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.'”

Link of the Week – “Speaking Up On Race in America”

This letter, written by two men I respect, addresses the racial tensions in our society in an honest and balanced manner.  It’s well worth your time to read it.

Song

I like all kinds of music, including Bluegrass.  Just make sure you’re someplace where you can slap a knee or bang some spoons when you watch this!

Play-by-Play Call of the Year

When a crazed fan runs onto the field in the middle of a game, you might as well have some fun with it.

“Human history is the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.” – C.S. Lewis

I am a husband, father, and preacher. I have the great privilege of serving a wonderful church family at the Alameda Church of Christ in Norman, OK. I have graduate degrees in ministry and administrative leadership and I also run the occasional marathon. This blog provides a platform to share some thoughts about Scripture, church, ministry, leadership, current events, books I'm reading, and baseball. Thanks for joining me!
