The year 2016 should have reminded us of what happens when we let our fears control us. Fear creates chaos, confusion, division, and isolation; and we are never at our best when we are constantly reacting out of fear.
So, let’s write a new story in this new year.
Let’s resolve to let our faith in God overwhelm the fear we feel at any given moment. Fear is not a bad thing, in and of itself, but it can lead us to bad behavior if we let it. The key to conquering fear does not lie in our attempts to eliminate it; rather, it is discovered when we place our trust in something greater than our fear.
That’s why God said this Joshua:
What if that was your Bible verse for 2017?
What would happen if you meditated on this verse for just a minute at the beginning and end of every day?
How different would your life be if you met your fears with the strength and courage God supplies instead of with the feebleness of your own might?
What would change if you allowed your faith in God to overwhelm your fear, instead of the other way around?
Take a few minutes to listen to this song that praises your strong God, then spend some time in prayer asking for God to fill you with strength and courage and faith in 2017.
