What’s Your One Word for 2018?

I’m a fan of Jon Gordon’s leadership books and videos, and Jon is a big promoter of choosing one word at the beginning of the year that focuses all your efforts in the same direction.  He writes, “A powerful and practical way to live with purpose throughout the year is to pick a word for the year that will inspire you to live with more meaning and mission, passion and purpose.”

And as simple as the concept sounds, it’s actually quite effective.

My one word for 2018 is “intentional.”

I want to live with more intentionality in 2018.

I want to be more intentional about my health.

…more intentional about my relationships.

…more intentional about my ministry.

…more intentional about my walk with Christ.

…more intentional about my witness for Christ.

…more intentional about my preaching.

…more intentional about my daily habits and choices.

…more intentional about how I spend my time and money.

…more intentional about what I read.

…more intentional about the way I treat others.

…more intentional about EVERYTHING.

This word also corresponds to the journey Alameda will be going on starting in 2018, and I want to be intentional about my part in that process, which I’m praying will lead to more people becoming committed followers of Jesus Christ.

What about you?

What one word summarizes where you want to go and what you want to achieve in 2018?
