So, something completely unexpected happened this summer…
Out of the blue one day in June, the outgoing President of Strata Leadership, an executive coaching and leadership development company with national and international clients, reached out and urged me to consider replacing her by becoming Strata’s new president.
I was aware of the open position since I have been a contract trainer and coach for Strata for many years, but I never thought to apply for the position myself because I loved the job I had and the people with whom I worked. After several conversations, I said I would talk to the team about it. Well, one thing led to another, and on August 10th I will assume the mantle of President of Strata Leadership.
Here’s the press release from Strata…
Rusty has spent more than 30 years on the frontlines of leadership, helping individuals, teams, and organizations discover what’s possible when people are empowered to grow. As a Strata Certified Trainer and Coach, he has been a trusted partner to leaders across industries, and in his role as Leadership Trainer & Workplace Coach for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, he has coached, trained, and advised leaders at every level of an organization of more than 6,000 employees. His work has always centered on one simple but powerful belief: when leaders create environments where people can succeed, everyone wins.
Rusty’s depth of experience is matched by his commitment to continuous learning. He is not only a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation, a Certified Team Coach, and a Certified Change Leadership Coach, but also holds two master’s degrees along with certifications in organizational leadership, conflict resolution, communication, systems theory, project management, and more. Those who know Rusty, however, would tell you that his greatest strength isn’t found in his credentials. Rusty’s crown strength is found in his ability to connect with people, bring out the best in them, and help them achieve peak performance together.
Nathan Mellor, EdD, PCC, CEO of Strata Leadership, shared his enthusiasm about Rusty’s appointment:
“I am so excited to have Rusty joining the team as Strata’s president. He embodies Strata’s values and has a strong track record of partnering with individuals and organizations to help them thrive. He is a compelling speaker, a highly experienced coach, and he cares deeply about helping others succeed.”
As Strata continues its mission of helping organizations build extraordinary leaders and healthy cultures by elevating life at work, we couldn’t be more excited to have Rusty leading the way. His practical approach, genuine care for others, and unwavering commitment to leadership development embody the values that have always defined Strata.
Looking ahead to this next chapter, Rusty shared:
“I am truly honored to join the exceptional team at Strata Leadership and grateful for the opportunity to join an organization with a sterling reputation for creating lasting value for everyone they serve.”
Congratulations, Rusty! We are grateful for your leadership and look forward to all that’s ahead. The future is bright, and we can’t wait to continue helping leaders and organizations thrive together.
I am completely humbled by this opportunity and excited to be launching a new adventure. Keep dreaming, friends!
