A Pioneering Coach.

As the Leadership Trainer & Workplace Coach for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, I created and oversee the first-of-its-kind internal coaching program for a state agency in the history of Oklahoma state government.

A Prepared Partner.

I am a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation and a Certified Team Coach and Certified Change Leadership Coach through the prestigious Center for Executive Coaching.

I hold two master’s degrees and multiple certifications covering such topics as organizational leadership, systems theory, conflict resolution and mediation, counseling, communication, project management, personality development, and leader-employee relationships.

An Experienced Leader.

With over 30 years experience on the frontlines of leadership, I’ve been where you are and I know the challenges of leading people and systems. I have a long list of accomplishments and an even longer list of mistakes. Through it all, I have created a track record of serving others with integrity, empathy, and wisdom and gained a reputation for helping leaders and teams maximize their potential.

  • Ode to the Tax Man

For 30 years, Ed Spencer has been our accountant. Each year, he sends us a packet that guides us in preparing and organizing our tax information. We then take that packet to his office, where Ed works his magic. But this year, when we took the packet to his office, we received shocking news. Ed…

  • Are You Mistaking Activity for Action?

One of the things I’ve observed about some organizations and leadership teams that I’ve coached and consulted with is that they often mistake a flurry of activity for deliberate action, but these aren’t necessarily the same things. To illustrate this point, consider the following thoughts from a programmer and writer, who goes by the name…

  • The Things We Miss

I recently attended the funeral of a friend’s father, in which my friend began his public remembrances with these words… “These are not tears of despair – because we are filled with hope. And these are not tears of hopelessness – because we have faith. The reason there are tears is simply because we will…

  • The Leadership Superpower You’re Overlooking

This is a great reminder from my friends at Edge Mentoring… In the fast-paced world of leadership, it’s easy to get caught up in goals, KPIs, and the next big challenge. But at the heart of every high-performing team is something deeper—a sense of value and belonging. Leadership isn’t just about strategy and execution—it’s about…

  • Joyful Outsiders

I found this book to be a very helpful guide for Christians who want to approach their place in this world with a missional mentality… Joyful Outsiders: Six Ways to Live Like Jesus in a Disorienting Culture by Patrick Miller & Keith Simon. “You probably feel more like an outsider in our culture today than you…
