Alameda Services Cancellation Update (4/27/20)
Brothers and Sisters,
Every time I speak with a member of my elder’s group, one of the first things they ask me is, “how long until we can start meeting again?” Well, the short answer is, “I don’t know.” Your elders have been meeting virtually over ZOOM, and your health is of great importance to us. To that end, we have decided it is best to wait a while longer before we meet together. What happens in the local community as things begin to “open back up” will help us make decisions going forward, but we also trust you understand that the health and safety factors associated with reopening church facilities and with congregational worship—from maintaining recommended social distancing to serving communion, just to name a couple—can be more involved even than those associated with reopening and operating a business. I hope that you can appreciate that we have many questions yet to be answered. Please realize that the important thing, right now, is the health of our members when meeting online is a viable option.
One thing that we have decided is this: We will not be meeting at the building prior to May 17th, 2020. If we decide that it’s safe for us to return at that time, we will notify all of you by email, Facebook, the church website, and/or by personal phone calls.
Please understand that we love you and miss you terribly and want to be together as soon as we can safely do so. Until then, please know that we are praying for you daily, as you would expect us to do. We are looking forward to being together.
In Him,
Steve Knight, on behalf of all of the Alameda elders
