A Pioneering Coach.

As the Leadership Trainer & Workplace Coach for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, I created and oversee the first-of-its-kind internal coaching program for a state agency in the history of Oklahoma state government.

A Prepared Partner.

I am a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation and a Certified Team Coach and Certified Change Leadership Coach through the prestigious Center for Executive Coaching.

I hold two master’s degrees and multiple certifications covering such topics as organizational leadership, systems theory, conflict resolution and mediation, counseling, communication, project management, personality development, and leader-employee relationships.

An Experienced Leader.

With over 30 years experience on the frontlines of leadership, I’ve been where you are and I know the challenges of leading people and systems. I have a long list of accomplishments and an even longer list of mistakes. Through it all, I have created a track record of serving others with integrity, empathy, and wisdom and gained a reputation for helping leaders and teams maximize their potential.

  • Christianity is Good for the World

This is an article written by Josh Howerton, whose bio appears at the end of this article. Let’s begin with a caveat. Nothing in the following paragraphs indicates that every church is healthy or that there aren’t issues for self-reflection and repentance. Far from it. Churches aren’t programs or buildings––they’re people. And people are messy,…

  • How I Get Ready for Work

This morning, as I was driving to work, I intentionally did some things to get my mind ready for what I was about to do. I was on my way to a training for a group of high-level leaders from across the state where I, and my team, would be talking with them about how…

  • Breaking News (A Prayer)

As I was watching TV last night, a bold graphic accompanied by distinctive music interrupted the show that was playing and declared, “Breaking News.” It was breaking news about a broken world. Russia has invaded Ukraine. And now, there is another war in the world. There is more violence in the world. There is more…

  • How Did We Get Our Bible?

On Sunday mornings at Alameda, I am preaching a series that addresses frequently asked questions about the Bible. The most recent sermon considered the question, “How did we get our Bible?” Due to the time constraints of one sermon, I was only able to give a simplified sketch of how we got the Bible; so,…

  • Who Can You Encourage This Week?

My daughter in college recently tested positive for COVID and has been quarantining at home with us, which means that my wife and I have also been quarantining at home. So, I wasn’t able to preach live at Alameda on Sunday. It was too late in the week to find someone else to preach for…
